Thirteen-year-old athlete Dante Anderson Hebbert is preparing to represent the United States in major international martial arts competitions to be held in Malta, emerging as a promising talent in the global karate scene.
Dante has been selected to join Team USA at the World Championship organized by the World Karate-Do Alliance, where he will compete in advanced categories, including kata (forms) and traditional weapons demonstrations.
Currently residing in Rutland, he has achieved multiple victories in regional tournaments, remaining undefeated and securing state-level titles, which earned him a spot on the international stage.
Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Dante’s story also stands out for his multicultural identity. The son of a Nicaraguan mother, he proudly represents both the United States and Nicaragua, carrying the flags of both nations in every competition.
Dante traces his roots to Pearl Lagoon, where he has been raised with strong values of identity, discipline, and commitment—always reminded of his heritage and the pride of embracing two cultures.
“With great pride, he stands with both of his flags,” said his mother, Sherlyn Cuthbert Hebbert, who also asked for support and prayers for her son as he enters this new international stage.
Dante’s participation in Malta represents not only a personal achievement, but also a source of pride for Nicaraguan communities both at home and abroad, who see in him a powerful example of effort, discipline, and perseverance.
