Fresh Fruits for Medical Staff and Visiting Families

Gabriela Palacios, a young woman from Masaya, has found a dignified way to make a living in Bluefields by selling fresh fruit at her small stand, located in the San Pedro neighborhood, right at the entrance of Bluefields’ regional hospital.

A mother of two, Gabriela frequently travels between Masaya and Bluefields to keep her business running. She offers both whole and pre-cut fruit, including melons, pineapples, papayas, mangoes, guavas, jocotes, and watermelons, among others.

Her small fruit stand is always positioned at the hospital’s entrance, a strategic spot with a steady flow of people. From families visiting their loved ones to doctors and healthcare workers, many rely on her for fresh fruit every day.

For the past 3 years, Gabriela has worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She doesn’t hesitate to travel nearly 400 kilometers to bring fresh, healthy produce to the Caribbean coastal community.
